I Ignite my Heart Foundation

Hello, my name is Alberto Molina, of Spanish nationality. Seven years ago I made a radical change in my life that I am going to tell you here. I was working in a multinational company where I had an executive position, a great salary, a car, a motorcycle, I lived in one of the best areas of Madrid and I enjoyed any trip I wanted.

Even so, with all this, having what anyone would want, I was not happy. At that time Reiki came into my life and helped me to begin to open my consciousness, and later Yoga, and so I began to question what I was doing with my life and what I really wanted.

A phrase of Swami Sivananda heard in a satsang at the Yoga school of the same name, marked me forever and helped me to make the changes that my soul was longing for: “Your thoughts should match your words, and your words should match your actions. In this world, people think one thing, say another and do a third. That’s horrible! That’s dishonesty.”

At that moment, I realized that I was not being honest with myself, that I was being a slave to that job in order to pay for all the comforts I had created for myself.

I decided to leave everything and go to India to study Yoga in search of that happiness that my soul was longing for. After my studies in India I decided to travel the world for two years visiting different ashrams to expand my knowledge of Yoga and immerse myself in the depths of the practice of Yoga.

After visiting several countries such as Canada, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, the trip brought me to Colombia to meet a project of a Yoga school called Atman Yoga in the city of Medellin, which shared yoga in public spaces with voluntary contribution so that this discipline was not only available to a few but to everyone.

It was here that a Yoga teacher invited me to teach a Yoga class for children (a specialization I obtained in Spain upon my return from India). It was in a home for children in vulnerable conditions, in a poor neighborhood of the city of Medellin. When I left that class, I felt very happy, full of joy and happiness for being able to share yoga with children in these conditions, giving them smiles, fun, peace and love; I felt how for moments they forgot their current situation of vulnerability and became children again, lighting their hearts again.

The call was so strong that I told my friend: Let’s do this in a big way!

From that day on I started working with absolute determination and determination to create what today is the Enciendo mi Corazón Foundation whose objective is to share yoga and meditation to children in vulnerable conditions in the city of Medellin. And so I was able to find that happiness and life purpose that has always been inside me and that I got tired of looking for outside.

Today, I can say that there are more than 250 children in vulnerable conditions who enjoy their weekly yoga and meditation class offering them a tool that will improve their quality of life by teaching them to better manage their emotions. I thank all the people and companies that financially support the project and the 12 volunteers that currently make up the foundation’s team. Without them this would not be possible.

“Om lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu”.

“May all beings, everywhere, be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life, contribute in some way to the happiness and freedom of all.”
